Counter-terrorism as priority avtivity of THE Shnghai Cooperation Organization
The article discusses anti-terrorist component in the activities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization under
conditions of the latest threats. This element is institutionalized in the form of a special structure - the SCO RATS (Re-
gional Anti-Terrorist Structure).Within the framework of the SCO various measures were held to prevent terrorism,
for example - ISIL penetration into the region. The article analyzes the relationship amongst the level of country’s
economic development and the extent of extremist aspirations of the population. The conclusion shows that peaceful
nature of the SCO with its economic focus could be a tool to solve the Afghan issue, which is a key one in struggle
against terrorism.
