3. General foreign language education (5-10 grades). The content of the main (general education) level of training students in a foreign language corresponds to levels A1 (5-7- grades) and A2 (8-10 grades).
The level of training in a foreign language in grades 5-7 must provide students with:
the ability to communicate with their foreign peers and adults in limited standard situations, listen and understand the texts, based on the familiar language material, write a postcard, fill in a form, write a letter, following the model.
The level of training provides students with:
• the ability and willingness to vary and combine linguistic material, focusing on solving specific problems of communication in the most common standard communication situations provided by the program;
• the ability to construct dialogs, take part in discussions; the ability to express one’ own point of view;
• make a short report;
• listen and understand short informative, descriptive and pragmatic authentic texts;
• read and understand the main content of the easy authentic texts of different genres, express their attitude;
• fill in a form, write a letter and a brief summary.
4. Secondary foreign-language education (11-12 grades): A fundamentally new approach to the organization of the third stage of secondary education lies in its profiling. It involves an in-depth pre-professional training of students in three areas: social and humanities, natural sciences and technology.
A foreign language acts as a means of implementation of profile Education. Students study authentic teaching material based on their future profession.
The use of authentic materials familiarize students with the elements of vocational training in the country of the target language, peculiarities of their chosen profession and the role of foreign language in the mastery of their future profession, in getting acquainted with the scientific-technical and cultural progress, in expanding the general outlook.
Work with profiled oriented educational materials leads to a slight increase in students knowledge and skills, improves their communicative competence, contributes to building a strong professional-oriented framework for further studies at the University in order to use a foreign language in their professional activities.
The school graduate will be able to:
• establish and maintain social and profile-oriented contacts within a limited number of areas and situations of communication provided by the program; perform communicative interaction in accordance with accepted standards of society in his speech and nonverbal behavior;
• understand the content and details of the listening texts and news reports on the radio and on television;
• read, using a variety of strategies and understand authentic short texts of different genres, as well as advertisements, news reports, etc; express his point of view;
• write short simple letters, the contents of which are autobiographical data, daily activities, personal preferences, etc;
• fill in the form, write a formal letter.
Such a setup is related to the third level of education (level B1). In this case, the training of secondary school students in a foreign language may correspond to European and international standards.
