Types of nouns in English
Plural Noun Forms
In English, there is a widespread tendency to add the addition of-s or-es to a noun to form the plural of a noun. However, in addition to these two conjunctions, nouns are also made in the plural. We will explain this in detail in this lesson.
plural endings of the Form-s and-es are the main ones that convert the singular form of a noun into a plural. For example:
Table 1
-s nouns with conjugations
-es nouns with conjugations
nouns ending in letters similar to-ch,- x,-sh, z, or s are accompanied by the addition of-es. For example:

Warning!
As we wrote in our previous lesson (article lesson), plural nouns do not have an indefinite article (a or an).
Nouns whose endings end with the letter o are usually accompanied by the addition of-es. For example:
Table 3
-es nouns with conjugations
But nouns that have entered or entered use later from Italian and Spanish, ending with the letter o, are accompanied by the addition of-S. For example:
Table 4
, -s the connection is connected.
Another feature is the same conjugation of the plural-s and-es at the end of some words ending with the letter O. Two different connection options are also correct. For example:
Table 5
-es, -s types to be connected
Nouns ending in the letter-y are connected by the plural addition-es, the letter-y becomes the letter i, if the letter preceding the letter-y is consonant. For example: a dictionary – dictionaries, an army – armies, a city – cities, a lady – ladies.
And if the ending ends with the letter-y, and the vowel is preceded by the letter-y, then the plural addition-s is added to the noun, and the letter-y does not change. For example: a boy – boys, a day – days.
When the endings of nouns end in the letters-f or-fe, the plural addition-es is added to them, and the letter-f becomes the letter-V. For example:
Table 6
-s when the plug is connected f > v
But, although the end ends in the letters-f or-fe, there are words that do not follow the above rule. At the end of such nouns, the plural addition-s is added, and the letter-f does not change. For example:
Table 7
-s f does not change when connecting
Nouns that are correct in both different cases: a hoof – hoofs/hooves, a scarf – scarfs/scarves
