The article is devoted to the question of the updated curriculum in "Mathematics" in the secondary school.
The  author  describes  the  ways  of  the  teacher  professional  development  in  the  conditions  of  updated  content  of
education. In his practice, the teacher through the use of innovative approaches in teaching creates the conditions
for  the  formation  of  a  competitive  personality.  The  article  includes  examples  of  tasks  for  the  development  of

functional literacy, the approaches used in the implementation of the updated educational program on the subject
"Mathematics", the approaches to evaluating the results of the achievements of students, criteria-based assessment
system. The article also presents a meaningful difference in the updated educational program and the current one.
The questions addressed in the article will help interest school teachers, college teachers and specialists of other
educational organizations.
