The article presents the results of demographic data analysis of older people’ number dynamics.
The article also describes the self-realization specifics of persons attained pension age. The classifications of
elderly people’ age, problems and prospects of individuals involved in active social life are analyzed. It was
considered the problem of intolerance to elderly people’s activity in public space through the monitoring of
articles and videos. The article proposes to replace the concept of «old age» with the concepts of «third age»,
«third age of social restart (the 3rd social restart age)». This approach allows to exclude social age discrimination
and to change public attitude toward the older generation in society. Recommendations on popularization of
correct terms denoting elderly people were given.
