development of the Internet and its rapid spread in modern society does not go
unnoticed for the English language, which is currently the most common language on
the web. As a global phenomenon, the Internet is becoming a subject of mass
communication, which gives rise to the need for the formation of a new lexicon, the
basis of which is formed by numerous abbreviations and abbreviations. There are
various ways to communicate on the Internet. The main ones are email, forum, chat,
blog, social network. There are many reasons for the formation of a new style in the
language - the style of Internet communication, but the main reason is the economy of
efforts of the sender and the recipient.
There are several classifications of English abbreviations and abbreviations used
in virtual communication. One of them is the classification of E.M. Dubenets, which
divides all abbreviations into two main groups: lexical and graphic, and also
distinguishes between them a special group of initials.
