This article discusses the features of paragraphs in a literary text by the example of Chapter III of Aitmatov’s
novel “When mountains fall (Eternal bride)” because it expresses the conceptual framework of the novel. Paragraph
division of text is an important aspect of every linguistic utterance, fulfilling the role of accent, which is considered
to be an important selection of individual units of the general structure of private parts in the description and in the
disclosure of a topic.
However, the text may be allocated for different reasons, with different specific target structures, and therefore
the functions of a paragraph are different. Basic functions of paragraphing are as following: logical-semantic, ex-
pressive and emotional, accent-secretory. Features may be combined in whole or in part, this is especially true for the
second and third functions. In literary texts, which stand functional diversity paragraphs, the same accent- secretory
function obeys the emotional and expressive function.
Functions of a paragraph is closely linked to functional-style accessory text at the same time reflect the individ-
ual author and text formatting feature.
