Аctivity of the representative employers organization in social and cultural sphere (from the second half
of XIX century – to the beginning of XX century)
The analysis of the formation of the economic elite of the Southern Economic Region and its representative or-
ganizations as one of the new phenomena of postreform transformations.The focus is on activities such representative
organizations as the Congress of Miners of Southern Russia (Kharkov) Russian Society of Sugar (Kiev), a congress
of representatives of industry and trade of the South Russia (Odessa), which had the greatest impact on the economic
development of the Southern Economic Region. Based on the study of archival sources, periodicals late XIX – early
XX centuries materials «Works...» themselves considered their representative organizations working in the social and
cultural spheres (education, medical and health business, exhibition and museum activities). Summarizing all these
direction shown by the value of representative organizations in the development of the basic principles of capitalist
society, the promotion of the achievements of the domestic industry and the formation of positive image of entrepre-
neurship. Particular attention is given to the characteristic motifs implementation of industrialists and entrepreneurs
of many social projects, volumes financial investment in the cultural and educational activities.
