The topicality of the research. Today works of Alash leaders who took an active part in the formation of the Kazakh literary science, its history and criticism, have become wide known due to publications of scientific works of these scientists in mass media. Their generous contribution into the sphere of literature including literary polemics has turned itself into the literary heritage of the nation. The research of the literary polemics of the 1920s makes it possible for us to indulge into the atmosphere of those times and to study the current situation in the literary environment from various points of view, to give an estimation of its latest influence upon the development of the Kazakh literary criticism and history of literature. While studying the literature of the 1920s one can clearly see a contradiction in viewpoints of the representatives of various political organizations and schools. Literary critics who thought that proletarian polemics must prevail in literature found support in the Soviet power. In their turn A.Baitursynov, M.Dulatov, Zh.Aimauytov, M.Auezov, S.Sadvakasov, K.Kemengerov and others were strongly against the interference of politics into literature and expressed their points of view on the pages of their published articles – using their thoughts, arguments and stipulations. But notwithstanding the active work of the latter people in the literary polemics of that epoch there still were arguments going on about the class belonging of literature.
In the 1920s poets and writers often wrote articles on the pages of mass media issues which they devoted to the problems of literature, art and culture. They took an active part in the literary discussions on a wide range of topics. We can confidently highlight the fact that in this period very few of the poets and writers ignored literary criticism. Summing up what has been mentioned above the main purpose of the present research is to analyze and understand the viewpoints of the poets and writers, participants of such discussions, to define the degree of their influence upon the formation and further development of the science of literary criticism.
