COURSE STUDY
The paper views discourse analysis (DA) as a method of linguistic research, trying to focus on its nature and an-
alyzes the cases of its usage in research of business discourse.On one hand, discourse analysis is viewed as the study
of language. Many scientists would define it as a sub-field of linguistics, which is scientific study of language. On the
other hand, it has become a multidisciplinary method, which covers not only linguistic aspects, but its social nature
as well. Discourse analysis is sometimes justly defined as the analysis of language ‘beyond the sentence’. Discourse
analysis is aimed to identify what we mean by discourse as a whole and the approaches and methods of analyzing
it. In the paper we have made an attempt to show its significance as a method in applied linguistics as a whole and
particularly in business discourse research. The paper also gives concrete examples in business discourse evolution
where different approaches to DA were successfully used and are being used.
