
before — до; 




for a week — на протяжении недели; 

for a month — на протяжении месяца; 

all morning / the whole morning — все утро; 

all day (long) / the whole day — весь день; 

all week / the whole week — всю неделю; 

all month / the whole month — весь месяц; 

all year (round) — весь год; 

since 5 o’clock — с пяти часов; 

since last week — с прошлой недели; 

since last month — с прошлого месяца. 

since 1991 — с 1991 года 

since last century — с прошлого столетия 
В разговорной речи в Past Perfect Continuous употребляются такие же сокращения, как и в 
Past Perfect: I’d been doing, he’d been talking, I hadn’t been doing, I’d not been talking, hadn’t 
he been doing?
Важно помнить:
практически у любого английского времени есть и активный, и 
пассивный залог. У Past Perfect Continuous есть только активная форма. Если требуется 
использовать пассивный, то Past Perfect Continuous, как правило, заменяют на Past Perfect.
Утвердительные предложения 
Exercise 1. Опираясь на образец, дополните предложения в Past Perfect Continuous 
Tense. 
Example: … before we came from the supermarket. Liz/ to clean/the flat/for two hours.— Liz 
had been cleaning the flat for two hours before we came from the supermarket. 
1. … before Tom came to the court. Helen/to play/tennis/for an hour and a half. 
2.… before he retired. Mr Black/to work/as a lawyer/for twenty-five years. 
3.… when the bus arrived. We/ to wait/f or forty minutes.
