The article deals with the thematic specifics, ideological significance and genre character of the
poem “I am Kazakh” by the Kazakh poet Zhuban Moldagaliyev. The lyric “kazakh”, which became the
basis and reasons for the birth of the poem, is considered comparatively. Specific arguments about the
historicism of an epic work are given. The influence of the poem on the awakening of the national spirit
in the totalitarian period is explained by specific examples.
