Abstract. The article deals with issues of improving the efficiency of patriotic education
of students in the university. It draws attention to the importance of patriotism development, and
at the same time, tolerance among students. It is proposed to use the concept of the development
of patriotism through familiarity with other cultural traditions, which is possible in the conditions
of interaction between local and foreign students. An important role in the development of
patriotism and tolerance play a student clubs. An example of the work of the club "Globus",
which is headed by the author, is given.
