Methods of research
Within the frame of our research, we decided to
find how far future teachers of science at the sec
-
ondary school realize the importance of cross-cur
-
ricular connections in their professional activities.
We questioned 60 students of Abai Kazakh National
Pedagogical University. The results are presented in
Figure 1.
The results of the first picture show that 53.8%
of the students do not realize that cross-curricular
connections are integral components of their fu
-
ture studies and career. Only 15.4% of respondents
understand that their professional activities will
certainly include cross-curricular connections and
30.8% of respondents had difficulties with answer
-
ing the question. Old educational program is one of
the reasons of such results. If schools and teachers
do not impose the cross-curicular connections, stu
-
dents who are highly motivated to study complex
subjects as physics or informatics and students who
consider these two subjects as difficult and boring
ones, lose interest in further studies.
When compiling the educational program, two
main approaches are possible: compact and frac
-
tional. The first approach creates a unified multi
-
dimensional training course. This approach has a
number of indisputable advantages in modern con
-
ditions of the training system. It is necessary to inte
-
grate the content of education through the transition
to block-modular construction of courses, rational
use of study time (intensification of the educational
process, transition to cyclical forms of education).
The indisputable advantages of the compact
course include the possibility of free selection and
submission of material, full reflection of the specif
-
ics of subjects. It stipulates the possibility of inten
-
sive use of cross-curricular connections; implemen
-
tation of a variety of teaching methods; application
of a wide range of organizational forms of training.
When considering a compact version of the distribu
-
tion of educational material, it is necessary to take
into account a number of its disadvantages: signifi
-
cant time costs; localization of the course at the end
of the academic module; remoteness of study time
from theoretical material. Indeed, for the implemen

tation of such a course, it is important to allocate
a certain number of teaching hours with the usual
chronic lack of time in higher educational institu
-
tions. In this case, we are not talking about «in
-
terspersed» material, but about the allocation of a
whole block of classes.
