Our country organized the EXPO-2017, which offered technical solutions. In these three months, 115
countries have tried to show their achievements in the field of green energy. Moreover, this implies an increase in
energy efficiency. That is, this is the first “brick” in the green economy. In addition, the economy shows energy
intensity. Our country has large energy intensity, and therefore our country needs technical solutions. Among the
exhibited technologies, which were aimed at increasing energy efficiency - firstly, reducing emissions, and
secondly, improving the efficiency of buildings, roads, etc. Such technologies must be exhibited in all green
economy-oriented states - we must know what the world offers, and what we can offer the world. The third is the
increase in renewable energy. In general, our EXPO was evaluated as a platform where such technical solutions to
these problems were shown. In other words, there was an organized world dialogue, how to confront these
challenges. It turns out, for some challenges the EXPO-2017 became the answer. And these answers were
demonstrated at the exhibition in Astana.
The legacy of EXPO is that scientists took part in the exhibition. And their development was not only in the
form of mock-ups, the already existing plants were presented. Today they make a serious contribution to the
development of our economy [8].
In general, thanks to the exhibition, the Kazakhstani society was consolidated. The theme of the green
economy has become a necessity. It is important that business began to deal with this topic. The topic, which lay
in the plane of long-range interaction, began to be realized. Actually, the green energy industry has become
relevant, because we have proven its effectiveness by holding the EXPO in Astana.
At the moment, there is practically nothing left in the Republic of Kazakhstan from the former Soviet scientific
and testing infrastructure, which provided regular development and introduction of innovations into production.
Before the EXPO-2017, the scientific potential of Kazakhstanis has fallen down, our country would not be able to
import foreign researchers and scientists, it would not be able to provide them with the appropriate conditions for
research and practical implementation of innovations [1, p. 9]. In itself, innovation does not succeed without
introducing it into production. The cost of innovation at the stage of an idea or even a research project or test
project is very low. And in Kazakhstan there are no manufactures that work on the basis of inventions of
Kazakhstan researchers or even Soviet ones. Any imported technologies have copyright protection and only
companies that have a license have the right to modernize them. In the opposite case, production can at least lose
its servicing, in the worst case, can be fined. That is, without the institutional development of the domestic
innovation market, it makes no sense for Kazakhstan even to hope that some kind of idea or innovation would in
the future bring a tangible income to the country. However, it was before the EXPO-2017, because this event
created an international platform to make a breakthrough in innovations, based on the experience of more
developed in green technologies countries like Israel [12].
President NursultanNazarbayev at the closing ceremony of the EXPO-2017 in Astana on September 11 said
that its conduct had a positive economic, political, scientific and technical effect - including the development of
advanced ideas and technologies in the field of future energy. Holding the EXPO once again showed the country's
commitment to the idea of developing green technologies. Completion of the Exhibition, according to President
Nazarbayev, was the beginning of several new large-scale projects - first of all, the International Financial Centre
in Astana, which should become a financial hub, a centre for attracting investments and take a worthy niche in the
international financial system. Thus, EXPO has become a new peak in the promotion of the country and the
national brand “Kazakhstan” in the global space [13].
In addition, on the closing ceremony, President of Kazakhstan added: “Thanks to the 3-month International
Exhibition, the image of the country has become better. Kazakhstan appeared before the guests as a safe and
dynamically developing state on the expanses of the Eurasian continent. In addition, the republic has proved that it
is making a world contribution to the development of “clean” energy sources” [13].
One of the key elements that develop the interstate relations on such kind of events – it a competing part
between each other for the prize. The main line of EXPO-2017 is Future Energy. And the main place in the
expositions was occupied by green energy projects and not only projects. Many technologies that have been
shown in the pavilions are already being used. For example, windmills that generate wind energy, and, according
to their creators, will replace traditional windmills. Or the layout of the plane, where lithium-ion batteries are used
instead of kerosene. It is said that this is a perspective model. While the battery lasts only an hour flight, but the
plane is already flying. On the same day, the experts of the International Exhibition Bureau awarded the best
EXPO pavilions. Individual and collective expositions were evaluated in two categories – “Disclosure of the
theme of the Exhibition” and “Design of the Exhibition”. Previously, all pavilions were divided into four groups:
A, B, C, D. Group “B” included countries with exhibition area from 400 to 700 square meters. So, the
Kazakhstani party tried to be competent and fair in its estimation. In this category the third place was occupied by
