REGION
Abstract
The relevance of this work is determined by the need to identify the ethnic component in Muslim education
and it follows from the need to overcome a schematic, simplistic approach to confessional issues in the Soviet era.
The historical experience of the functioning of Islam in Russia deepens our understanding of the cultural and
socio-political aspects of the formation and development of Muslim institutions on its national borders. The social
importance of studying the daily life of Kazakh Muslims is determined by the need to preserve and revive cultural
memory and tolerant relations in modern society, the ethnic diversity of the Russian Federation, in which
followers of Islam constitute the second largest group of believers after the Orthodox.
