The?word?‘data’?used?to?be?considered?the?plural?of?‘datum’,?and?still?is?by?
some English speakers. Nowadays, though, ‘data’ is most commonly used in the
singular, as a mass noun (like ‘information’, ‘sand’ or ‘rain’).
