What is the function of paragraph 1?

You were surfing the Internet and found Lila’s blog: 

1.  I love my little sister. She’s my everything. I love getting her dressed and playing with 

her. She is the greatest little sister you can have. Unfortunately, we can’t go to the latest 

parties together because she’s my dog Shuga … 

2.  Shuga means the world to me. I love her as if she truly is my little sister. She’s so spoiled 

and catches an attitude just like she’s human sometimes (I swear). My mom brought her just 

right after my grandfather’s death in 2006. Everybody loves her and she knows it. She’s super 

friendly and super sweet. I don’t know what I’d do without her. 

3.  Shuga is a Pekingese and she’s the best dog a person could have. It gets kind of hard 

sometimes without her on campus. Sometimes I wake up and look for her forgetting I was at 

school and not at home. She’s my addiction. I don’t know if any of you have pets but mine is 

my everything. I hope you don’t think I’m weird because I love my dog so much, but I really 

love her a lot! I mean some people say diamonds are a girl’s best friends, but Shuga is mine!
