SOME POLITICAL AND LEGAL ASPECTS OF “ENERGY SECURITY”
IN THE CASPIAN REGION
Abstract.
The multi-vector foreign policy of Kazakhstan is not only a subjective desire or "doctrine" of
the
state political establishment, but also a consequence of the geographical location, the emergence of a
new geopolitical reality in world politics in the Central Asian region. Starting in 2020, under the influence
of the COVID-related economic lockdown, energy security has been high on the political agenda around the
world. The prospects for the development of various
approaches to energy security, in particular between
exporters and importers, are discussed within the framework of a general concept applicable to any country. As
experience shows, security of supply can be ensured by diversifying sources and routes, own production or less
consumption, including through alternative energy sources. In this regard, the political and legal aspects of the
development of the Caspian energy "hub" attract special attention.
