INTRODUCTION
Currently, in psychological works, the problem of
psychological health is developed within the frame-
work of two major applied research areas: the study
of psychological health in the context of mental de-
velopment and in the process of becoming a subject
of professional activity. A wealth of empirical mate-
rial has been accumulated in each area.
Researchers analyzing the evolution of psycho-
logical health in children’s ontogeny, focus on such
indicators of psychological health of the individual
as the nature of communication with peers, anxi-
ety, aggression, motivation, self-esteem, etc. (A.V.
Shuvalov, V. E. Pakhalyan, I. V. Dubrovina and oth-
ers). The parameters of a healthy personality dur-
ing adulthood are such personal characteristics as
the desire for self-actualization, life orientations,
self-attitude, optimism (M. Bagheri, O. I. Lelyakova,
G. Allport, A. A. pecherkina and others).
The relevance of the study of psychological
health of the individual is evidenced by the signifi-
cance of this problem for the psychological theory
and practice of the psychologist. The practical ac-
tivity of a psychologist requires uniformity in the
system of indicators of psychological health of the
individual, which can act as indicators of the state
of the individual in the process of supporting adap-
tation, personal development, both in educational
and professional activities.
Ideas about health and a healthy person
changed from epoch to epoch. The understanding
of health is influenced by the prevailing picture of
the world, cultural traditions, and socio-historical
situation. Accordingly, when considering the con-
cept of «health», it is necessary to analyze the his-
torical and modern approaches to the definition of
this phenomenon.
Modern literature describes the following ap-
proaches to the definition of health: holistic, discur-
sive, evolutionist, socially-oriented, normocentric,
axiological, phenomenological, complex, acmeo-
logical.
