Theoretical studies and empirical data have
shown that the existing specializations at pedagog-
ical schools in most cases do not correspond to the
real employment opportunities of graduates. Spe-
cialization even in such relatively independent va-
cancies in the labor market areas of practical activi-
ty of the psychologist, as psychological counseling,
social psychology, psychological correction rarely
provide the professional success of psychologists.
The analysis of vacancies in the labor market
allowed us to conclude the low demand for psy-
chologists. Negotiations on the phone allowed us
to determine that the psychological profession in
the city of Shymkent is welcomed when applying
for a job in the following cases:
– sales manager (that is, a seller who both ad-
vertises his goods and looks for customers or “suc-
cessfully pushes the goods”, while employees are
not offered a stable salary);
– an employee in the field of network marketing
(job characteristics are essentially the same plus
training in network administration);
– insurance or advertising agents, etc.
The reasons for this situation of real employ-
ment of psychologists may be determined by sev-
eral factors.
Among them:
– discrediting the psychological profession by
laymen;
– features of the development of professions
in the modern world (the situation in our country
corresponds to world trends where psychologists
can carry out the activity in the sphere of private
practice, training and advanced training of employ-
ees in various centers, within social programs of the
help to the population, in the education system);
– the emergence of new professions that require
versatile training or professional experience (the
corporate ladder, or in a certain area-trade, service,
production, sales, etc.; for example, from waitress
to the manager (administrator) of the hall, from the
seller to the
manager to work with people, etc.);
– low wages in state organizations (education,
medicine, etc.).
The objectives of our study were to identify the
factors of training at the University, which signif-
icantly determine the future professional success
of graduates, and the possibilities of psychological
assistance to the successful professional develop-
ment of psychology students during their studies
at the University.
In organizing the system of psychological sup-
port for the formation of professional orientation
in this regard, the question was raised about the
allocation of factors of professionalization in the
University, which can provide a favorable forecast
of the future employment of students and their
satisfaction with the professional choice.
To identify such factors, the method of expert
assessments was used. The experts were profes-
sional psychologists working in various organiza-
tions or having a private practice (business).
The following characteristics were defined as
the selection criteria of respondents:
– work in a large firm;
– high social status,
social status;
– academic degree and position;
– organization of business activities (in the field
of psychology);
– above average standard of living;
– satisfaction with the chosen profession and
career [Намазбаева Ж.И., 2006].
The presence of three criteria out of six made it
possible for this professional to participate in the
study.
At the first stage, the experts were asked to an-
swer the question: “What determines the success of
the psychologist’s future professional activity in the
period of training at the University? What would
you recommend to pay attention to students-fu-
ture colleagues?”. The responses were recorded
and subjected to quantitative and qualitative pro-
cessing. As a result of the analysis of the responses,
the following factors were identified:
–
study well;
– keep an eye on the professionals;
– select a narrow activity profile as early as pos-
sible;
– learn everything you can, do not miss any-
thing;
– establish personal contact with a good teach-
er;
– to identify which areas of activity are close to
psychology and try to navigate them;
–
more work on yourself, including training;
– develop the ability to independently compre-
hend facts, opinions, approaches,
make choices;
– clearly define the last courses in a specific area
of psychological activity;
– pay more attention to practice;
–
do science;
– get sound (good) basic training;
– in parallel with training to get experience in
any professional sphere (to begin the independent
activity, to get a job at the lowest status, to help the
professional in any sphere, etc.);
– develop certain qualities of character and
skills (activity, responsibility, resistance to stress,
confidence, competitiveness, empathy, etc.);
– more additional self-study [Lekerova G. Zh.,
Karbozova G.K., Isabayeva A.S., Dlimbetova B.S.,
Mamykova R.U., Omarova G.A., Aymenov A.Zh.,
2016, p. 1711-1720].
In the second stage of the study, each factor
was entered on a separate card with a serial num-
ber. Then the professionals were asked to give an
expert assessment of all the selected factors of the
predicted professional success of future graduates.
The following instruction was drawn up: “Please
give an expert assessment of these factors. To do
