Keywords: project, teamwork, report, video, key competences Introduction As one of the largest educational institutions in Slovenia, the School centre Velenje
offers a wide selection of education programmes but it is also open towards encouraging
constant development of each individual in different fields. The School of Electrical and
Computer Engineering within the School centre Velenje is no exception when it comes to
modernizing and upgrading different approaches, the project weeks being their integrative part.
As stated in the report (Inovacijskiprojekti 2010/2011, p. 260), due to a higher number of
classes in school modernization programmes, we searched for the most appropriate form of the
project week organization and implementation. We developed, organized and carried out four
different forms of project weeks, among which the so-called ‗common project week‘ deserves a
special attention. It includes all the students and teachers at the same time, with the topics
chosen by the students according to their interests beforehand. Students and teachers are highly
motivated, creative and pleased with the achieved results. Knowledge and skills acquired within
the project week are of more quality, tend to be more creative and last longer, which
consequently makes education more versatile and interesting.
This article discusses the benefits of one topic within the project week topic selection,
the English and German project week group, which enables the students to improve and
integrate their various skills, mostly in the field of foreign language acquisition, tourism
themes, writing and recording skills, coming into practical effect with the creation of a report
and a video in English language.
