Both individuals and companies can be prosecuted under the new legislation. 5. In the shoot-out one Klansman was killed, and five others were seriously wounded. 6. Assaults on public transportation workers have doubled in the last 10 years. 7. He was charged with assault and battery. 8. If you live in an area where burglary is common, it may be worth investing in an alarm system. 9. He embezzled large amounts of money to finance his gambling. 10. He will now face trial on money laundering charges. 11. A lot of people won’t go out alone at night because they’re afraid of being mugged. 12. He’s a lawyer who specializes in personal injury claims. 13. He made two escape attempts while serving a sentence for armed robbery. 14. If your passport has been stolen, report the theft to your nearest embassy immediately. 15. Judges often give reduced sentences where there are mitigating circumstances. 16. We had no choice but to institute court proceedings against the airline. 17. The large number of court cases in which the complainant dropped the prosecution is an indication that many cases were settled informally. 18.
