Purpose: To form student’s adequate representation of the role of social sciences in the modern society, the importance for the practical activity of professionals, working in social sphere, to introduce the theoretical, applied, empirical achievements of national and foreign sociology in the sphere of services.
Contents: Sociology is the study of human social relationships and institutions. It is the study of social behaviour or society, including its origins, development, organization, networks, and institutions. It is a social science that uses various methods of empirical investigation and critical analysis to develop a body of knowledge about social order, disorder, and change. Unifying the study of these diverse subjects of study is sociology’s purpose of understanding how human action and consciousness both shape and are shaped by surrounding cultural and social structures.With the sociology are closely related, such sciences like psychology, political science, cultural studies, anthropology and other humanities.
Competences: To teach students to objectively analyze social processes and phenomena, determine their priority social role and to define themselves in them. To bring up patriotic qualities in the students community, to give positive values and guidance for life in society.
