Aim of the research:
The aim of the research is to determine the effect of iodine
deficiency on the physiology of children and students, in particular on thinking, and how
many people pay attention to iodine deficiency.
Methods of the research:

1.
Get information from online resources, books, magazines and scientific articles
about this topic.
2.
Find out how many people pay attention to the iodine deficiency through online
survey
3.
Experimental identification of iodine deficiency in students of the Medical
University in Semey.

4.
Analyze the data obtained from sources, questionnaires and experience, answer to
the research question, draw conclusions and make suggestions.
Study results:
We found it useful to conduct an online survey among 1st year
students of Semey Medical University, collecting information on iodine deficiency in our
study. Several students can be interviewed online and the questionnaire is anonymous, they
can openly express their views.
The questionnaire consisted
of 13 questions, which were answered by
450
respondents. Of the respondents, 1
96
were 17 years old, and 141 were 19 years old. 63% of
the respondents were girls and 37% were boys. Most of them are interested in iodine
deficiency (63%), and most of the students know why iodine should be taken (78%).
According to the sixth question “How often do you have iodine
-
containing foods in
your daily diet?”, 48% of respondents found that iodine was sometimes found in their diet,
in 32% it was frequent, 5% rare, 4% always present, and 12% did not know how often
iodine was found in their diet. In this regard, most students rarely consume iodine
-
containing products and do not pay much attention to this.
In question 11, students were asked how they rate their actions to prevent iodine
deficiency, which they had to choose from grades 1
-
5. As a result, 53% rated "3", 19%
rated "4", 18% "2", 5% rated "1" and only 4% rated "5". As a result, most students are
u
nhappy with their actions to prevent iodine deficiency.
Surveys show that most students are interested in iodine deficiency, but they do not
know how much iodine is required in their body. The students surveyed did not consume
iodized seafood often, did not know how much iodized salt was in their diet, and did not
know correctly what iodine deficiency diseases were. That is why it is so important to tell
students how much iodine is needed.
We drew a net of iodine on the hands of students to study iodine deficiency among
freshmen. As said A. Storozhukov and Danikov NI, iodine deficiency in the body can be
determined by making an iodine network on the skin. This is the easiest way to detect
iodine deficiency. The level of iodine deficiency depends on how long the iodine cell is
retained on the skin. If iodine is stored for 6

9 hours, it can be concluded that iodine
deficiency in the body is low, and if it lasts longer, then we can conclude that there is no
iodine in the body.
In addition to performing this
experiment, each student had to compare
their iodine absorption time and readings with the subject indicators. According to the
practical hypothesis, if the iodine net is absorbed for a long time, then the student's
academic performance is good, and if it is absorbed in a short period of time, the student's
academic performance is
moderate.
If we compare the time of iodine absorption and the progress of each student with
iodine, then students with less than 9 hours of iodine absorption will have more than 3
points of “4”, and students with more than 10 hours of iodine absorption will have one
or
two points of “4”, and for some people it’s not found at all, it turns out that in all subjects
“5.” Thanks to this experience, we see that iodine deficiency negatively affects on student
performance.
