Abstract. The article discusses the concept of patriotism, emphasizes its importance,
relevance in modern world, considers the factors that negatively influence the formation of
patriotism among younger generation, studies the learning standards requirements for nurturing
personal qualities in schools. The author describes the possibilities of patriotic education within
the subject "foreign language" and suggests the ways to implement it. The article details the
application of this approach in textbooks approved by the Federal state educational standards. In
addition, the author offers a number of strategies in extracurricular activities that contribute to
fostering patriotism within learning and practicing foreign languages.
