Direct Method

In this method the teaching is done entirely in the target language. The learner is
not allowed to use his or her mother tongue. Grammar rules are avoided and there
is emphasis on good pronunciation.
Echo correct
When a student makes a mistake, the teacher repeats the mistake with rising
intonation so that students can correct themselves, e.g.
Student: He don’t like it.
Teacher: Don’t?
Student: He doesn’t like it.

Educational aims
Learning a second language is of great educational value as it gives an insight into
the way in which words express thoughts. When learning a foreign language
learners understand better how language functions and this brings them to a greater
awareness of the functioning of their own language.
