Purpose: acquaint students with the sociology of religion as a scientific discipline, its basic concepts and methodological principles, classical and modern theories of religion, methods and the most important results of its empirical research. Due to the specifics of its subject, the psychology of religion is one of the basic disciplines in religious studies, the possession of which is necessary for the psychologist, regardless of his specialization.
Contents: The content of the course can be presented in three modules: the first is introductory and represents the psychology of religion in its emergence and development, the second is the religious problems in various approaches and directions, and the third is the psychological study of religion in various aspects of its interaction with the individual and society.
Competences: When mastering the course "Psychology of Religion", students need to know: the concepts, principles and structure of the psychology of religion, the main methodological problems of religion research in the context of modern psychological knowledge, the system of concepts and the ability to apply these concepts in the analysis of specific psychological data, taking into account different points of view on the nature and functions of religion as a social and personal phenomenon, the methods of psychological research of religion, the prospects for the development of the psychology
