1. Begin with an effective introduction, introduce the general topic of your
speech, then make your specific topic and plan of your answer clear.
2. Select the main points, work out the best order for these points.
3. Make transitions moving from one point to another. Use transition
devices: first, second, third, more important, most important, in addition, besides,
moreover, again, also, then, finally, etc.
4. Select meaningful supporting details, give vivid examples.
5. Identify the source of your information.
6. Conclude the speech with an adequate summary of the main points. Use
the following phrases: in conclusion, to conclude, in sum, to summarize, to sum up,
etc.
