Abstract
. The article deals with the «term» from the point of view of scientific research
paradigm. Nowadays, the terminological system is an integral part of the lexical system and plays a
very important role. The article describes the main features of terminological units, such as
consistency, precision, contextual independence, internationality, stylistic neutrality. These
characteristics of the term, contribute to the interpretation of the requirements of the ideal term, but
not always the term meets all requirements.
