SOCIO-CULTURAL IDENTITY OF THE KENTAU POPULATION
ON THE PAGES OF THE LOCAL PRESS (1950-1970)
Annotation
The article is devoted to the study of texts of poems and articles, notes reflecting the identity of the population
of the city of Kentau on the pages of the local press of the 1950-1970s. The researcher paid special attention to
revealing the markers of socio-cultural identity. In this connection, the authors' characteristics were given, the
content of the poetic works created by them and brief notes about the life of the city in the context of the state
tasks of the development of the republic in the 1950-1970s were analyzed. The article presents examples that
show the Soviet, professional and labor affiliation of the authors. In addition, the article analyzes the manifestation
of the national identification of author's positions on the example of facts of cultural norms in the daily life of the
city. For the analysis, materials from local newspapers in Kazakh and Russian were used.
Despite the official nature of the materials presented on the pages of the local newspaper, the researcher tried
to identify such historical sources that reflected the attitude of both ordinary citizens and local officials to the
events taking place in the country.
