Annotation
The article considers memories as one of the sources in the study of the history of geology in Kazakhstan. In
particular, it analyses whether the personal traits of famous scientists are of scientific significance. In order to
examine the everyday lives of scientists during the Soviet period, we investigated the methods of communication
within the scientific community, the ways in which the demands of the times affected the working strategies as
well as personal lives, and the changes that occurred as a result were assessed by analysing personal accounts. The
author thus presents a conclusion derived from studying various archive documents, personal fund materials and
memories about K.I. Satpayev.
