9. Names of plants
There are four different important groups of plants.
Thallus Plants, are the lowest and simplest of all plants. This group includes one-celled bacteria, the algae (алджи) and the fungi (фанги) similar to mold. They are often found on bread and cheese. Bacteria can only be seen with the microscope.
The second group of plants includes mosses, lichens (лайкенс) and liverworts. Moss plants that do not have real roots or stems.
A third group of plants are Fernlike Plants, includes the ferns, quillworts, and club mosses. These plants have neither flowers nor seeds, but they are divided into distinct parts.
Most of the plants we know belong to the group of plants called Seed Plants or Spermatophytes. They have the most complex structures of all plants. Such plants include our common grasses (грасез), vegetables, most trees, shrubs (шрабс), flowers and many others.
2. About plants
Organisms that make their own food are called Plants. The vegetative Plant body consists of three general kinds of parts called roots, stems and leaves.
Roots are the organs that anchor (әнкор) the plant in the soil and absorb water and minerals.
The leaves are usually the photosynthetic (фотоусинсетик) organs of the plant.
The stems are cylindrical and they display the leaves, flowers and the seeds.
The stem and leaves are called the shoot.
Plants differ greatly in length of life.
Plants that live only 1 year are called annuals (энюалс); Plants that live 2 years are called biennials (байениалс); and Plants that live 3 years more are called Perennials (перениалс).
Typical annuals such as corn complete their life cycle in a single bro wing season; and die winter annuals, such as winter wheat.
