| I like to paint
We learn to do a lot of important things at our Handicraft lessons. Girls are taught to knit and to sew. Boys are taught to repair furniture. Now I know what things I need if I want to sew. They are: a needle, thread and scissors. And the tools boys need for their work are: hammers and drills. I have learned to sew buttons onto my clothes. I also like painting. I like to paint in water colours, because it is not easy to paint in oils. (79 words) Competitions Children can play sports all the year round. They like to take part in the competitions, to see who is the quickest, the strongest, the best jumper, and who is the best swimmer or player. Children of different classes hold competitions in different kinds of sports. Many boys and girls show good results. All the competitions and games are very popular with the pupils. A lot of fans always come to watch them. Sport makes us strong, healthy, cheerful and quick. It gives us many moments of joy and pleasure. Besides we always feel fine. It is good for all. (98 words) Music Listening to music is my favourite pastime. I can say that music is my hobby. I am good at playing the violin and the piano, while my brother enjoys playing the recorder. He is also crazy about the guitar. He began to play the guitar at the age of 12. There is never a dull moment when he comes to stay: there is always something interesting and amusing happening. Music makes us feel cheerful. Everybody is interested in the new songs my brother sings. (81 words) Beautiful region We live in a very beautiful region. Mountains and forests surround the place we live in. Forests stretch for miles and miles in this part of the country. High mountains rise above the plain. A lot of nice lakes occupy a very large territory. You can walk long distances along the lakeshores. Green valleys are full of different plants.
