English Names
Most northern European countries have the same system of surnames that is the man gives his surname to his wife and his children. In Great Britain the same system is used. Sometimes the husband’s name and wife’s surnames are combined into in long name which the family has for several generations. In other families the children may be given the mother’s or grandmother’s surname as a middle name. This becomes a Christian, or the first name, and not a surname (Wilson Spencer Churchill).
In America they often use the initial of the middle name (John F.Kennedy). (82-words)


Culture
A lot of traditional Kazakh culture is preserved in its epic, heroic and lyric compositions, fairy-tales and songs. People still remember the aitys – a contest of singers where akyns, seri and saly (improvising singers) compete in humor, satire and in improvising rhymes before an audience.
The most famous representatives of Kazakh culture, both in Europe and Kazakhstan, were Abai Kunanbaev, Shokan Ualikhanov, Shakarym Kudaibergenov, and Ibrai Altynsarin. At the end of the 19th century, such public figures as Alikhan Bukeikhanov, MyrzakypDulatov, and Akhmet Baitursynuly were known as the publicists.
The most well-known 19th century Kazakh composer was Kurmangazy. (93-words)
Richard Write
R. Write was born into the family of a Negro sharecropper in Mississippi State, USA at the age of 15 he left his impoverished family and started North. He took whatever odd jobs he could find, first in Memphis, Tennessee, then in Chicago. There he became interested in the labour movement and joined the John Reed Club. After years of self-education he began writing fiction. He contributed his first short stories to the Daily Worker and the New Masses. The collection of stories Uncle Tom’s Children and the USA R. Write was a controversial figure. His vies often exposed him to criticism from the Left and the Right. (116-words)
