The great scientist-philosopher Abu Nasyr Al-Farabi once said that the human being should first get the upbringing and then education. Education without upbringing is the evil for the mankind. These words show the importance of upbringing in peoples’ lives. The main aim of the upbringing is to inculcate in young people the folk experience gained for centuries and good qualities, to form the attitude, the outlook, the relationship and communication skills and behavior of learners. That’s why much attention is paid to upbringing process at the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi along with the educational process. The university aims to train well-educated personalities with good moral qualities and specialists capable to join the Kazakhstan elite and who can be competitive in the professional sphere [1]. As our President N.A. Nazarbayev says that upbringing is a difficult task, that to create conditions for upbringing is the duty of every person [2], our university has created some innovative projects that are focused on the training of well-educated and competitive future specialists. The aim of the project “Enlighten your environment” is to inculcate in young people good personal qualities and teach our students to real life experiences and new challenges. The focus of the project “Greencampus” is to plant greenery and flowers on the territory of the university, faculty and department, whereas the project “The top 100 books which a student of KazNU should read” aims at forming smart, well-educated and well- bred personalities. There is one more project that is called “A healthy lifestyle” which is focused on promoting a healthy lifestyle. The main aim of these innovative projects is to educate professionally a personality who is well-educated, competent, competitive, healthy, with national consciousness, with good moral qualities, hard-working and conscientious. The above-mentioned projects contribute to the arrangement of good events at the university level. Teachers and tutors of every chair at faculties together with their students continue the initiative of the university and organize a lot of events at faculties. The department of General Linguistics and European Languages of the faculty of Philology and World Languages has planned and organized many good events within the framework of the above-mentioned innovative projects this study year.
