A comparative assessment of expert opinions
of successful professional psychologists and un-
dergraduate students of the specialty “Pedagogy
and Psychology” of the Miras University showed
the following.
Among the most important factors for the fu-
ture success in professional activities of the pro-
fessionalization of the psychologist during training
at the University expert professionals identified the
receipt of basic training. The choice was on a nar-
row profile or sphere of psychological activity dur-
ing training at the university, and the acquisition of
experience in any professional field in parallel with
training at the University.
Two of the three factors of predicted profes-
sional success of psychologists are components of
professional self-determination of students of psy-
chological specialties and their independent pro-
fessional development.
These factors are determined by the profession-
al orientation of the student, as for their implemen-
tation it is necessary to have ideas about different
spheres of activity of the psychologist, a conscious
interest in the psychological profession, the pres-
ence of psychological activity in professional plans.
Representations of students-psychologists
about factors of successful professionalization dur-
ing training in higher education institutions are not
realistic as not only do not coincide but also in sep-
arate cases are opposite to the factors allocated by
the professionals successful in psychological activ-
ity [Lekerova G. Zh., Isabayeva A.S., 2015, p. 43-49].
OPINION
Thus, students rated the factor “choosing a nar-
row profile or sphere of psychological activity dur-
ing the period of study at the University”, which has
the second rank among professionals, as the least
significant, and the factor “gaining experience in
any professional field in parallel with training at the
University” was rated by successful psychologists
as the third most important, and by students as the
third least significant.
Thus, the data obtained empirically allow us to
conclude that psychology students of 3-4 courses
with a stable professional orientation need psycho-
logical assistance at the stage of choosing a narrow
profile (or sphere) of future professional activity.
