The aim of the case is to form student’s linguistic cultural competence by analyzing and synthesizing cultural values of an individual and society. The objectives: to scrutinize the situation from different perspectives and find possible solution for the case; to develop students’ polemicargumentative and communicative skills by using set expression; to enable student to become aware of linguisticcultural aspects of set expressions; Text for the case There were two teachers who conducted the Financial Management course at our university. The one delivered the lectures and the other conducted the tutorials and seminars. One of them was a very lenient teacher and all students were fond of her. She was a paragon for us ISSN 2411-8745 Number 1 (2016), 229 - 236 ҚазХҚжӘТУ ХАБАРШЫСЫ «ФИЛОЛОГИЯ ҒЫЛЫМДАРЫ» сериясы 233 because she always supported students and she would always try to understand a student if he or she did not hand in assignments on time, she would not be disappointed much if students came late for her class she would close her eyes when students were cheating during the tests. The other teacher was a very strict one. She supported traditional view about teaching, she never let late comers to participate in her lectures, and she always demanded concerted effort from students. While delivering a lecture she would ask questions from any student and if he or she failed to answer she would mark that student as an absentee. During the second midterm exam everyone expected to see only the teacher who conducted the seminar classes. Unfortunately, the opposite thing happened – only the lecturer came and announced that the midterm exam would be in the form of viva voice. Finally almost all students failed the midterm exam for most of them relied to pass the exam by cheating and the majority of questions seemed to be totally unknown for students. 12 days later students were supposed to have final exams.
