The public holiday of Kazakhstan celebrated since the Soviet times. It is celebrated in honour of the Soviet victory over Hitler’s Germany in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). The holiday is filled in with deep patriotic sense. This day people remember those soldiers and officers who died; and there were many Kazakhstanians amongst them. 30 August, Constitution Day of Kazakhstan Constitution Day is a public holiday honoring the day Kazakhstan signed and adopted their Constitution. This day is celebrated in honour of the Basic Law of the country adopted in 1995 at the national referendum. In accordance with this document, Kazakhstan declares itself a democratic, temporal, legal and social state. December 16 – Independence Day In just a short span of time, Kazakhstan has managed to become a stable, powerful, and well-respected nation. In honor of the past 18 years of independence, celebrations will be held throughout the country, including concerts, conferences, exhibitions, and feasts. Exercise 1.
