Purcell died in 1695, and was buried under the organ in Westminster
Abbey. His widow published a number of
his works including the now
famous collections of songs,
Orpheus Britannicus.
Purcell wrote operas,
religious music, many odes, cantatas and other
pieces of music. He is undoubtedly one of the greatest British composers
of all times whose music hasn’t been forgotten.
