Conclusion Any change in long-standing customs and traditions is met with varied emotions, according to common experience. Some are suspicious of it, some are worried and uneasy about it, some are critical of it, some are indifferent to it, and some accept it totally. Some individuals strive to find a middle ground between existing systems and newly proposed systems. This is exactly the communicative language teaching experience that Kazakhstan has had. There are factors like students’ level of proficiency, heavy amount of writing work, time constraint and teachers’ fluency that cause hindrance to the implementation of communicative language teaching. The awareness of teachers with regard to communicative language teaching was also found to be low, although several workshops on communicative approach are organized per year for this school which follow the communicative activities.
