The article reveals the connections and literary parallels of philosophical tales of classics
and contemporaries. The development of the traditions of M.E. Saltykov-Shedrin in the
philosophical tale of F. Iskander "Rabbits and Boas”: an appeal to moral issues, a social
orientation, a combination of science fiction and reality, allegory, satirical typification, political
acuity. The motive of fear inherent in the heroes of the works under consideration is considered
(“The Wise Squealer”, “Rabbits and Boas”).
