The article deals with the morphology of Chekhov's narrative in the context of an explanatory
strategy. The research work includes an analysis of the structure of Chekhov's story in the aspect of
human alienation. We offer basic narrative techniques that create the basic structure of Chekhov’s
stories, consisting of five key elements. Our created scheme stands out the main element that is
peculiar to Chekhov, as obligatory, permanent in all his stories - alienation. This element
overshadows other parts of the base structure. We assume that the alienation in the Chekhov's story
is the structural-target dominant of the exposition, which determines the morphology of the
narrative. In the course of our work, we used qualitative and quantitative analysis, content analysis,
comparative historical method and classification method.
