A Barking Dog Does Not Bite One Sunday morning a father and a son were at home.
“Sam,” said the father, “put on your cap and coat and let us go for a walk”.
Sam was happy. He liked to go out with his father. He put on his cap and a coat quickly and said:
“Father, I’m ready.” Sam and his father went out into the street.
Suddenly they saw a big black dog. The dog began to bark. Sam was very afraid of the dog. He wanted to run home but his father said:
“Don’t be afraid, Sam. Don’t you know the proverb: “A barking dog does not bite?”
“Oh, yes,” said Sam, “I know the proverb, you know the proverb, but does the dog know the proverb?”
