THE USE OF EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING IN CLASS IN THE CASE OF A 
TRAINING COMPANY

Abstract 
In this day and age, where we are flooded by information it can be difficult to find out 
what‘s really important. That's why it it's important for students to have a chance to learn about 
new topics through experience. We found some great results when using the method of 
experiential learning in our high school programme ―economic technician‖, where in the 
module ―company dealing‖ students establish their own training company and therefore 
thoroughly learn about the meaning of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurs and the way to use their 
business idea to form their own company. They also learn about the process of founding a 
company and the process of dealing with other companies. Alongside their business skills they 
also improve their communications skills, as they deal with other training companies based in 
Slovenia and abroad.

INTRODUCTION  
In the specialist high school programme economic technician one of the specialist modules is 
company dealing. The key guidelines for this module (

) state, that students should: 

Use theoretical knowledge in practice; 

Improve their entrepreneurial skills; 

Use the latest equipment and technology; 

Develop their motivation, teamwork, collaboration and problem solving skills; 

Successfully communicate in a business setting; 

Learn the basic rules of business etiquette; 

Individually plan, organize and lead work processes; 

Learn about the implantation of modern methods and practices; 

Improve their precision, perseverance and responsibility
Students gain these skills through the use of the experiential learning method, as the module is 
performed in the form of practical studies.
