Organizational forms of profile education
In 2010 the State program for the development of education in the Republic of Kazakhstan for the years 2011-2020 has been introduced.
The purpose of the program is the improvement of the competitiveness of education, human capital development by providing access to quality education for sustainable economic growth
The program will be implemented in two stages:
First phase: 2011 - 2015 years
Second phase: 2016 - 2020 years
The overall objective of the educational reforms in Kazakhstan is the adaptation of the education system to the new socio-economic environment.
Currently the conditions for the introduction of 12-year-old model of learning are being created. In higher educational institutions a three-level training has been introduced: Bachelor - Master - Ph.D.
In 2015 profile education will be introduced in senior classes of secondary schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, intellectual schools, specialized schools for gifted children.
Admission to such schools will be based on national testing. There will be chosen 40 universities in Kazakhstan, on the basis of which training in the profile school (grades 11-12) will take place. It is supposed that 60% graduates from 10 classes will continue their studies there.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science, such schools will be also opened in the rural areas, where students will be provided with dormitories. These schools will make the in-depth study of majors in the 11-12 grades possible.
Taking into account material conditions, personnel potential and other factors the following organizational forms of profile training are introduced: 1. Mono profile school –it ensures realization of one structure of training.
2. Poly profile school –it ensures realization of several structures of training in profile classes in comprehensive schools, grammar schools, lyceums and specialized schools for talented children.
3. Supporting School (Resource Centre) - the organization of education, on the basis of which educational resources of nearby small schools (малокомплектные школы) will be gathered. Each resource center will be in charge of several schools. Children from small schools three times (at the beginning, middle and end of the school year) will have ten day training in supporting school and have intermediate and final attestation there.
Between training sessions, the training is conducted in small schools with the participation of teachers from supporting schools and distant technologies. Thus, the resource centers will provide access to quality education for students of small schools.
By 2020, small schools will have functioned mainly for primary and basic secondary education.
4. Evening, correspondence schools mainly opened on the basis of profile schools and resource centers.
