She began to teach in a school for girls when she was 13. Harriet wrote articles for newspapers about the exploitation of slaves. She died in 1899. The theme of the story is slavery. Deal between Haley & Mr. Shelby 2. Eliza’s escape 3. Saving of the con In the 1st part of the story we know about Mr. Shelby who borrowed large sums from Haley. Here author tells that Haley wanted instead of money because Mr. Shelby had enough money to pay him. In the second part describes how Eliza heard their conversation and decided to run away to Canada. She didn’t want to take her son to the trader. The climax of the story is laid in 3rd part, when Eliza decided to cross the dangerous river without any boat. In conclusion Eliza saved her son. The story leaves a sense of that every mother will do everything for saving of lives of her child. To my mind it’s teaching story.
