Abstract. In this article, the author intends to examine the phenomenon of "patriotism"
with positions identify the causes and sources of its occurrence in the life of the social
communities, determine the nature and essence of the phenomenon, the dialectics of its
components such being communities as "social responsibility" of the citizen and "lifestyle" in
communities and society, country, State. Disclosure of the stated objectives, the author intends to
implement by reviewing the available scientific literature interpretation of this phenomenon, as
well as on the basis of the material manifestations of Patriots of their characteristics and
properties, qualities in specific historical conditions of development of Russia and other
countries of the world in different periods of their life. To highlight the preconditions for
emergence and manifestation of patriotism in our country the author intends to use dialectical
materialist tradition, in which the reasons for the development of all things serve the
contradictions existing in the man, people in the community, as well as in the different spheres of
society.
