Exercise 108. State the types of conditional sentences. 
Comment on the forms of the Subjunctive Mood and translate the 
sentences into Russian:
A
1. If an offender wants to return to an honest life of labour, he 
will have every opportunity to do so.
2. Under criminal law a person may be held criminally responsi-
ble if he has reached the age of 16.
3. If the reform of a person is possible without criminal punish-
ment, educational measures may be applied.
4. If offenders are under 14, they are not sentenced to impris-
onment.
5. Under criminal law a person may be held criminally responsi-
ble if he has reached the age of 14 by the time of committing a crime.
6. If there is more evidence, the hearing of the case won’t be 
delayed.
7. If the court fails to prove that the man is guilty of committing 
an act of theft, he will not be convicted.
8. If we don’t decide soon, we risk losing the contract.
9. If a worker feels that his or her statutory rights have been 
infringed he or she may take the case to a tribunal, where an arbitrator 
has discretionary power to rule on the dispute.
10. If you are convicted, that is found guilty of the offence, you 
may be sentenced immediately or called back to court for sentencing 
at a later date.

11. If a defendant is found guilty of an offence, he or she may 
be sent to prison or given one of a number of community sentences.
