The article presents the material related to the updating of the content of literary education in

the senior level of secondary schools. The paper deals with issues related to the study of the novel

by  A.  Rybakov  «Children  of  Arbat»  (the  history  of  creation,  problems,  plot).  The  authors  analyze

the  artistic  time  and  space,  the  system  of  images  in  the  work,  reveal  the  author's  attitude  to  the

characters  and  depicted  events.  The  article  provides  recommendations  for  the  study  of  the

monographic theme: the sequence of the study of the volume work, methods and techniques used to

achieve the effectiveness of lessons that are devoted to the analysis of the novel by A. Rybakov in
